I’m Taylor Nassen, a Principal Engineer working on applied AI and a large .NET estate. Close to two decades of it, running from executive rooms to database internals.

Before any of that there was reverse engineering, mostly for its own sake. Code, memory, malware, whatever system happened to be in front of me. It never left, and it’s why I reach for the layer below the one a problem is presented at. That’s usually where the problem lives.

Organizations behave the same way. A problem surfaces where it’s convenient, not where it lives, and the layer it surfaces at is rarely the layer that can resolve it.
